The Portland Trail Blazers came into being in the 1970s and within the team’s first decade they had managed to grab their first championship. 1977 was the year that Portland ruled the NBA and even though there have been no follow up successes just yet, the Blazers fans are still hopeful of reliving those glory days.
This is not beyond all expectation as the Portland Trail Blazers have had a team that have made it to the playoffs and have always shown the capability of taking the game to a higher level. It can be difficult to find a consistency for many teams but on their day, the Portland Trail Blazers are capable of taking on anyone.
A blistering start to the season following their Championship win led many fans to believe that a period of dominance was coming and the opening 50-10 record was an astounding achievement. Sadly, injury robbed the team of Bill Walton, the MVP of 1977 and the form of the team plummeted. The Portland Trail Blazers still made it through to the playoff stages losing out at the conference semi-final stages. Although Walton was to move on after he returned from injury, his presence at the club was so important that his jersey, number 12, was retired.
There then followed a quiet period for the Portland Trail Blazers with the 1980s being a bleak period for the club. However, as soon as the 1990s rolled around, things started to pick up for Portland. The team ended the 1990/91 season with a 63-19 record and again made it to the semi-finals where they lost out to the Pistons. Yet another semi-final beckoned in 1992 but this time it was the Chicago Bulls who were to triumph at the expense of the Portland Trail Blazers.
After the team from this era broke up, there was a change of approach from the Trail Blazers, looking to focus on younger players and develop from within. This has seen some exciting players emerge through the ranks and the club has been viewed as a great development place for young basketballers. All of this means that snapping up Portland Trail Blazers tickets could be a great way to see the basketball stars of tomorrow before they hit the big time.
The Rose Garden has been the site for so many excellent Portland Trail Blazers matches and has been the home for these emerging players. All of which means that if you are lucky enough to grab Rose Garden tickets, you are likely to be in for a basketball treat. The fans of the Portland Trail Blazers are still hopeful that there are many great days to come for the team but there is no doubt that they get to see the blossoming of so many excellent basketball players. Whether you want to see the big names in opposition or the up and coming stars of the NBA breaking through, Portland may well be the place for you to watch basketball.
